The In-Between - Musician Portrait Session

Portal: a doorway, entrance, opening, or gateway. I've always been fascinated with them ... the inherent invitation, the mystery and enticement of what lies on the other side. I wanted to photograph musician Celia Verbeck within this context, and then allow subtle concepts of the "in-between" to be explored as well. Music serves as the vehicle for such spaces, transports us to a magical landscape of internal wonder and reflection. Fond of using simple concepts to push creative results, I created a simple paper set featuring cut circles, and shot through fabric, cellophane, and glass to generate an ethereal, ghostly effect.
